A WELL-KNOWN BUSINESSMAN APPEARS IN COURT FOR MURDER
Mokopane, Limpopo – Jabulane Petrus Masingi, commonly known as Mashamaite, appeared in the Mokopane Magistrates’ Court on charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice. The charges stem from an incident on 24 November 2024, in Mokopane Extension 12, where Masingi and the deceased, Phineas Zwane, were present with their families to resolve dispute between them. During the discussion, Masingi and other accused reportedly assaulted Zwane, causing him to collapse.
Zwane was taken to a hospital, where medical professionals observed visible assault injuries and immediately alerted the police. A subsequent investigation revealed that four individuals were implicated in the assault. Three suspects were apprehended promptly, while Masingi evaded arrest until now. The case has been postponed to 30 January 2025, when Masingi will be joined by the other three accused for their next court appearance. Additionally, arrangements will be made to appoint a magistrate from outside the Mokopane jurisdiction to oversee the matter. Masingi remains in custody.
