COURT DENIES BAIL TO MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING STEP-CHILD

The Petrusville District Court has denied bail to Lawak Lorenzo Henzel (23), who is facing a charge of murder. The accused is alleged to have stabbed his 03-year-old stepson to death. The prosecution, opposed the bail application, given the seriousness of the charges against the accused.

On 25 July 2022, the accused who is the stepfather to the victim, is alleged to have argued with the toddler’s mother, who was his ex-girlfriend. The toddler’s mother went to the suspect’s house, to collect her clothes, but he refused her entry into the house. The mother walked away, and the accused refused to hand over the toddler.

She was later accompanied back to the suspect’s house by the police, and upon her arrival, the 03-year-old boy’s toddler’s body was discovered with multiple stabbed wounds. The suspect was found hiding under the bed and was arrested and charged with murder. The accused will be remanded in custody, until his next court appearance on 29 November 2022, for the DPP’s Decision on the forum for the trial.
