MEMBERS OF LIMPOPO HIGHWAY PATROL TEAM ARREST 40 YEAR-OLD SUSPECT FOR POSSESSION OF STOLEN CATTLEAfterwards, two suspects alighted from the motor vehicle and tried to flee on foot but one of the suspects was subsequently arrested and taken back to the vehicle. Police opened the back cover of the bakkie and found three cattle with one calf.

The suspect was interrogated about the origin of the cattle but he failed to give satisfactory reason and was immediately apprehended for being in possession of suspected stolen cattle. The motor vehicle used for the commission of the crime was also seized at the scene.

Police followed the motor vehicle and attempted to stop it but it did not and a car chase ensued from Glen-Cowie village until Brooklyn where they managed to stop the vehicle.

Afterwards, two suspects alighted from the motor vehicle and tried to flee on foot but one suspect was subsequently arrested and taken back to the vehicle. Police opened the back cover of the bakkie and found three cattles with one calf.

The suspect was interrogated about the origin of the cattle but failed to give satisfactory reason and he was immediately apprehended for being in possession of suspected stolen cattle. The motor vehicle used for the commission of the crime was also seized at the scene.

Further probe revealed that the other cattle were stolen and transported to Dennilton policing area. They proceeded to the said place and later found three cattle which were allegedly stolen from Nokaneng village.

Police are calling on livestock owners who might have recently lost their cattle to come to the police station for purposes of positive identification.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has lauded the work performed by the members of the LHP in arresting the suspect and recovering the stolen livestock.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Nebo Magistrate court soon facing charges of stock theft.
