THE PROVINCIAL COMMISSIONER OF LIMPOPO CONDEMNS GBV RELATED MURDER AND INQUEST INVOLVING POLICE MEMBERS
POLOKWANE: The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has strongly condemned murder and Inquest incident involving the members of the South African Police Service in Thohoyandou under Vhembe District on Tuesday 24 February 2026.
At about 13:09, police were informed about the incident at Ha Thukhutha, Tshilungoma 1 village, and rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found a female victim aged 45 lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds inside the house. Upon further observation police discovered a 55 year-old husband of the victim hanging from a roof of the house. .
The members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned to the scene and on arrival they immediately certified the couple dead.
Both the deceased were Warrant Officer’s attached to Thohoyandou Local Criminal Record Center.
“The untimely death of the two members is a serious loss and a devastating blow to our organization as well as community at large. We once more call our members to seek assistance from our relevant structures like Employee Health and Welfare to avoid this unnecessary loss of lives . My condolences to the families and relatives of the departed members ” Concluded the Provincial Commissioner Lt General Hadebe.
Police opened a murder and Inquest following an untimely death of the couple.
The motive of the incident is unknown at this stage, but domestic violence cannot be ruled out.
Police investigations are continuing.
