The MK Party has made significant changes to its leadership structure. Colleen Makhubele has been removed as parliamentary Chief Whip and replaced by Mmabatho Mokoena-Zondi, who will serve in an interim capacity. Brian Molefe, a former Eskom and Transnet CEO, has taken over as Treasurer-General, replacing Mpiyakhe Limba.
Molefe’s appointment has raised eyebrows due to his controversial past, including allegations of corruption and involvement in state capture. The party cited his extensive experience in public administration, governance, finance, and organisational leadership as reasons for his appointment.
The changes are part of the party’s efforts to strengthen its movement and advance its political mandate, according to party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela. Vanessa Calvert, the party’s parliamentary chief of staff, has also been reinstated after being suspended
