BREAKING NEWS : South African Ambassador to France Nathi Mthethwa Found Dead In a Hotel
South Africa’s Ambassador to France, Nathi Mthethwa, has been found dead in Paris, France. According to reports, Mthethwa’s body was discovered outside the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile in the Porte Maillot district, with preliminary indications suggesting he fell from the 22nd floor of the hotel.
Mthethwa, 58, was reported missing on Monday evening, prompting French authorities to launch an investigation. His sudden disappearance and subsequent death have sent shockwaves throughout the diplomatic community.
A seasoned politician and diplomat, Mthethwa served as South Africa’s Minister of Police and later as Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture. He was also a member of the African National Congress’s (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC) from 2007 to 2022.
Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola described Mthethwa’s death as a loss “not only to South Africa but also to the international diplomatic community”.
The South African government has extended condolences to Mthethwa’s family, friends, and colleagues, praising his “unwavering patriotism and service to the nation”. Mthethwa is survived by his wife and children.
The circumstances surrounding Mthethwa’s death are still under investigation by French authorities.
