BLOUBERG LOCAL MUNICIPALITY TO ENFORCE COURT ORDER ON LAND INVASION

In a effort to address illegal land occupation, the Blouberg Local Municipality will on Monday, October 24, demolish illegal structures on the Farm Bochum 144 LS and 145 LS and the remaining extent of the farm Borkum 143 LS following a court order.

On October 19, 2021, the High Court of South Africa, Limpopo Division, Polokwane ruled that;
All persons unlawfully invading the Farms, Bochum 144 LS and Bochum 145 LS and the remainder of extent of the Farm Borkum LS are directed to remove all structures erected on the mentioned farms within 72hours from the 19th October 2021.

In the event that the respondents should fail to remove structures on the farms, and/or fail to vacate the Property, the applicant through the sheriff of court/or his Deputy with the assistance of the South African Police Service, be authorized to remove such persons unlawfully invading and occupying the Property and remove all structures.

The municipality has previously given notices to illegal land occupants informing them of the court ruling that ordered the removal of all their illegal structures on the land in question. The illegal occupants failed to comply with the notices and the municipality is left with no option but to enforce the court order.
Residents are further encouraged to avoid occupying land illegally as this delays development and to report those who do so.
