STEPFATHER SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR RAPING HIS 15-YEAR-OLD STEPDAUGHTER
POLOKWANE A 39-year-old stepfather was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment by the Maake Regional Court on Monday, 28 October 2024, for raping his 15-year-old stepdaughter. The incident occurred in December 2010 when the victim and her younger brother were left alone at home while their mother was at work. The stepfather deceived the victim by claiming he was sent by their mother to give them snacks, then proceeded to rape her. This abuse happened twice before the victim reported it to her mother, leading to the stepfather’s arrest.
The case was led by Detective Sergeant Bongani Mthombeni of the Tzaneen Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the investigating officer’s diligent work and all involved parties for ensuring justice was served, and another child perpetrator was put behind bars for a long time.
