HOUSE ROBBERY SUSPECT APPREHENDED AND MOTOR VEHICLE RECOVERED, MANHUNT IS UNDERWAY FOR THE REMAINING SUSPECT

POLOKWANE The Provincial Murder and Robbery Investigation Unit, Motetema Detectives led an intelligence driven operation immediately after a house robbery and an inquest case docket was reported at Motetema SAPS. The intelligence led them to the Tafelkop Mashemong section resulting in the recovery of stolen property and apprehension of one suspect.

It is reported that on Saturday 17 January 2026, at around 02:20, the victims were sleeping at their home when they were woken up by three male suspects inside their bedroom.

The trio demanded the car keys. Two suspects followed another victim to take the car keys. Meanwhile, one remained with the other victim. Two suspects received the car keys and took the motor vehicle, a grey polo VW with Gauteng registration number leaving one suspect in the house.

The remaining suspect in the house robbed the victim of his belongings. In the process, a fight erupted, leaving the suspect with injuries.

The victims screamed for help, the suspect fled the scene on foot. The community members quickly responded to the crime scene. They searched around and found one of the suspect not far from the crime scene with a visible wound.

The Police were informed about the incident and upon arrival at the scene, they found the suspect still in possession of of the victim’s property. He then identified the other suspects who fled with a vehicle before he passed on.

The emergency medical personnel were summoned to the crime scene. Unfortunately, the victim was certified dead at the scene. The deceased’s identification is withheld.

The preliminary investigation led to the apprehension of one suspect in possession of stolen motor vehicle. A 35-year-old old male suspect will appear before Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court soon facing charges of possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle and house robbery.
