A 16 YEAR-OLD FOREIGN NATIONAL IN POLICE CUSTODY FOR ALLEGEDLY RAPING A THREE YEAR-OLD BOY IN RITAVI POLICING AREA

POLOKWANE: A 16 year-old foreign National is under police custody in connection with a rape of a three year-old boy at Sasekani village under Ritavi precinct,Mopani District on Monday 13 May 2024 at about 15:00.

It is reported that a 03 year-old victim went to his neighbour’s yard to play. Later on, he came back home and reported to his grandmother that a 16 year-old male who is a friend to his brother has raped him.

The grandmother allegedly approached the father of the suspect to investigate about the incident but a 16 year-old denied the allegations against him.

The matter was immediately reported to the police and the victim was taken to the hospital for a medical examination.

The suspect was traced and apprehended in the morning on Tuesday 14 May 2024 while at Sasekani village.

The Probation Officer is expected to compile an assessment report pertaining to the suspect in regard to the court proceedings soon.

Meanwhile, Ritavi police has strengthened a manhunt of an unknown male suspect who raped a 26 year-old woman at Lephepane village, New Stands on Monday 13 May 2024 at about 16:00.

The victim was reportedly walking along the street when she came across an unknown male suspect who was wearing a red worksuit.

The suspect allegedly grabbed and strangled a 26 year-old victim before pushing her to the ground. The victim was undressed and untimely raped by the suspect who fled the scene on foot and disappeared in the bushes afterward.

The victim managed to get assistance and reported the incident to the police who immediately opened a rape case. A 26 year-old victim alleges that the suspect is known to her by sight and is suspected to be staying around Lephepane village.

A manhunt for his apprehension is ongoing and police urge anyone with information that can assist should contact the Investigating Officer Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Mahlane on 0824692625 or crime stop number 0860010111 or nearest police station or MySAPSApp.
