BOYFRIEND WHO FATALLY STABBED GIRLFRIEND SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IMPRISONMENT
POLOKWANE : The Regional Court in Polokwane on Thursday 22 February 2024 convicted and sentenced Evans Kgaogelo Nkwana aged 33 to direct 15 years imprisonment for murder of his girlfriend.
Nkoana was on trial for the murder of his girlfriend Anikie Mamabolo, 25, whom he stabbed to death on 26 April 2021 in Mmotong, GaRanoto Village under Seshego policing area.
The court heard that police responded to a complaint of murder and upon arrival, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood and had sustained several stab wounds.
The accused was tracked down and swiftly arrested the following day.The investigating officer Warrant Officer David Mathopo attached to SAPS Seshego Detectives was assigned to investigate the case.
Through his diligent work, bail was successfully opposed until the accused was ultimately sentenced and lashed with a hefty sentence of 15 years imprisonment without the option of a fine.
Highlighting the prevalence of gender-based violence, the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe had sent a strong message that this type of incident will not be tolerated.
