FOREIGN NATIONAL REARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF STOLEN CAR

LIMPOPO – The Musina based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation(SOCI) assisted by Vehicle Crime Identification Unit (VCIU) traced and rearrested a foreign national suspect (30) for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

The suspect was rearrested after the court issued a warrant for his arrest. During 2022, the suspect was arrested for being in possession of drugs (Crystalmeth) at Makhado. During the arrest, he was driving a Toyota Prado. Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen in Parkview in the Gauteng Province.

He was immediately put under arrest and charged with possession of drugs and possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle.

He was then convicted and sentenced to two thousand rand (R2000) fine or two(2) years imprisonment on the first count of possession of drugs. He paid a fine and he was released.

On the second charge of suspected stolen motor vehicle, he was released on a warning and provided with the next court date. He never attended court again and a warrant of arrest was issued.

The suspect was rearrested on 16 November 2023 at Makhado. He is expected to appear in the Makhado Magistrates Court on 17 November to face charges of possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle. Police investigations are continuing.
