A 43 YEAR-OLD MALE ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED MURDER OF THE BOYFRIEND OF HIS FORMER LOVER
LEPHALALE: The South African Police Service in Lephalale have arrested a 43 year-old male for the murder of a 58 year-old male believed to be boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend on Saturday, 25 November 2023 at Snuifspeel, Onverwacht informal settlement.
According to police report at this stage, the suspect was allegedly residing with his ex-girlfriend prior being served with a protection order that forced him to leave.
Afterwards, the suspect managed to get his own shack at an empty stand.
At about 18:30, when he returned home from work, a 43 year-old male found his former lover with her boyfriend busy drinking alcohol at his residence.
The suspect asked them about their presence and it eventually resulted to a fight between the trio.
The suspect subsequently stabbed an elderly man and ex-girlfriend with a broken bottle.
Police and members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned at the scene and on arrival found a lifeless body of the current boyfriend laying in a pool of blood and the woman sustained injuries on the shoulder.
A 43 year-old male was immediately placed under an arrest at the scene.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Lephalale Magistrate court soon facing charges of murder.
Police investigations are continuing.
