DRIEKOP POLICE INVESTIGATE THREE CASES OF INQUEST FOLLOWING DISCOVERY OF LIFELESS BODIES INSIDE WHEELBARROWS

POLOKWANE: The Police in Driekop are investigating cases of inquest, after three bodies of foreign national males were discovered inside wheelbarrows at Mooihoek village, on 15 November 2023 at around at 12:30.

According to information, the police were alerted by anonymous person about suspicious people coming from the mountains and pushingwheel barrows

They swiftly responded to the scene, on arrival, the police found three wheelbarrows abondoned next to the road towards the mountains, each was carrying a critically injured person. Emergency personnel were immediately activated, and they certified dead. Two of the three deceased were identified as Tagwireyi Matthew (21) and Masukume Vongani (38) and the third deceased is not yet identified.

Preliminary investigations by Police, found that the deceased were allegedly injured by rocks while engaging in illegal mining activities at Mooihoek village.

Police opened three cases of Inquest for further investigations.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has called upon the community to resist the temptation of engaging in illegal mining activities since it can endanger the lives of those involved.

The Police investigations are underway.
