POLICE CRACKDOWN ON CRIME DURING OPERATION KUKULA AS TWO SUSPECTS ARE NABBED FOR HOUSE ROBBERY

POLOKWANE: A well-coordinated Intelligence driven joint operation that was established to track down suspects in a house robbery, paid off when a female suspect aged 41 and her male accomplice aged 53, were arrested after they committed the crime on Wednesday 19 July 2023 at Mogorwane Village in Nebo Policing precinct outside Sekhukhune.

Police received the complaint on the same date at about 06:00. Upon their arrival, the owner of the house aged 59, informed the Police that he went outside the house late in the evening when he was attacked by two suspects, one armed with a firearm. The suspect hit him with the firearm and dragged him into the house while he was still unconscious.

In the morning when he regained conscious, he was blindfolded. He also noticed that the suspects stole items that included blankets, aluminium doors and windows, shoes and a compressor which they loaded into his Opel Corsa bakkie and drove off with it.

The operation was swiftly activated comprised of detectives from SAPS Nebo led by the Station Commander Colonel Kgobise Monasoe, Detective Commander Liutentenat Colonel Goodhope Makofane and Sekhukhune District Tracking Team.

The information led them to a house in Tafelkop in Motetema Policing area that belongs to a local teacher who claimed the female suspect came to the school and requested to park the vehicle inside her garage.The vehicle was found still loaded with the robbed items and was confiscated.The suspect was arrested at her house in Riverside at about 20h00.

The operation continued to arrest the second suspect and he was located at his house also in Motetema in the early hours of today(July 20) at about 04:30.The 53 year old suspect was found in possession of the robbed vehicle keys and a jacket. The suspect’s licensed firearm with two live ammunition that was possibly used during the robbery was confiscated as well.

The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe hailed the members for the well-coordinated operation that led to the swift arrest of the suspects.

” Operation Kukula is here to stay and will continue to hit hard in all corners of the Province, making it very difficult for criminals to find a space to operate. I am proud of our men and women in blue who are being led by competent and dedicated managers leading by example,” concluded Liutentenat General Hadebe.

The two suspects will appear before the Moutse Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Friday 21 July 2023 facing a charge of house robbery.
