POLICE UNCOVER EXPLOSIVES AND ILLICIT CIGARETTES AT THE BUSHES BEHIND A TRUCK PARK IN MUSINA

POLOKWANE : The Police in Musina under Vhembe District have launched investigations following the discovery of explosives and illicit cigarettes behind a local truck park on Thursday morning , 23 April 2026.

The incident was reported by members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), who alerted the police after making the discovery in the nearby bushes behind the truck park.

Upon arrival, the members were led to the scene of crime. The items recovered include six reels of detonating fuse and 150 Carmex connector capped fuses, with an estimated value of R165 000. In addition, 52 cartons of Remington cigarettes, valued at approximately R3 441, were also found at the scene.

The origin and intended use of the items remain unknown at this stage, and investigations are underway.
