Programme Overview

The programme is offered by Ampath Laboratories in partnership with the Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority.

  • Duration: 24 months (Jan 2027 – Dec 2029)
  • Format: Full-time (no other job allowed)
  • Learning style: Blended (online + in-person)
  • Training locations:
    • Centurion
    • Durban (Westridge)

Funding

  • Fully funded by HWSETA and Ampath
  • No tuition fees required

What You’ll Learn

You’ll gain both theory and real-world clinical experience at Ampath Care Centres, including:

  • Patient care and communication
  • Blood collection (phlebotomy techniques)
  • Specimen handling and lab processes
  • Infection control and safety procedures

This hands-on exposure is crucial for working in hospitals, clinics, or labs after completion.


Eligibility Requirements

To apply, you must:

  • Be under 35 years old
  • Be a South African citizen
  • Have internet access + a smartphone/device
