LIMPOPO POLICE CLARIFY MISLEADING JANE FURSE POLICE STATION SIGNAGE CIRCULATING ON SOCIAL MEDIA

POLOKWANE – The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, has noted with concern the circulation of a misleading image of a signage alleged to be that of the Jane Furse Police Station in the Sekhukhune District on various social media platforms.

“It must be emphasised that the signage in question was corrected as far back as 2022. The image currently circulating is old and has resurfaced on social media in 2026,” said Major General Scheepers.

Major General Scheepers has appealed to members of the public to exercise responsibility when using social media platforms.

“One of the biggest challenges we face today is the spread of fake news. We urge social media users and the general public to verify information before sharing it, as the dissemination of false or outdated content has the potential to undermine the image and credibility of the South African Police Service,” he added.

The South African Police Service remains committed to maintaining its corporate image, upholding its values, strengthening public trust, and demonstrating its unwavering commitment to serving and protecting communities.
