SUSPECT REMANDED IN CUSTODY FOR POSSESSION OF SUSPECTED STOLEN PROPERTY IN ROOIBERG
POLOKWANE – A 29-year-old suspect who was arrested for possession of suspected stolen property has appeared before the Rooiberg Periodic Court today, Monday 01 December 2025, where he was remanded in custody until Thursday, 04 December 2025, for a formal bail application. The arrest follows swift action by police officers on patrol in Rooiberg, Waterberg District.
The suspect, identified as Thomas Masevedze (29), was arrested after an incident on Saturday, 29 November 2025 at around 00:20, when police officers received information about a suspicious vehicle travelling along the D928 Road. The members acted quickly, followed up on the information, located the vehicle and brought it to a stop.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of railway tracks, copper pipes, and copper wire, all suspected to have been stolen. The suspect was immediately arrested and taken to Rooiberg SAPS for processing.
Investigations into the origin of the recovered items and possible links to other incidents of infrastructure theft are still underway.
