28-YEAR-OLD MALE SUSPECT NABBED IN CONNECTION WITH MURDER AT A FARM IN TOLWE
POLOKWANE: The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, welcomes the swift arrest of a 28-year-old male suspect allegedly involved in a murder (farm attack) incident that occurred on Saturday, 29 November 2025, at around 16:00, at a farm near Baltimore in the Tolwe policing area under the Capricorn District.
Following an intensive investigation, the suspect was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, 02 December 2025, by members of the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit, Tolwe Detectives, Bosbeld Misdaad Ondersoeke, and Bosveld Plaasbeveiliging Security Company.
It is alleged that the incident took place after the 77-year-old victim left the farmhouse to check on his cattle. During this time, two unknown male suspects reportedly entered the house and tied up his wife at knifepoint.
When the husband returned home, he was confronted by the intruders, who then tied him up and severely assaulted him before fleeing the scene.
The wife managed to free herself and report the incident to the farm watch.
The Police and neighbouring farmers responded immediately. Upon arrival, they found the 77-year-old victim still tied and lying unconscious. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) declared him dead at the scene. He was identified as Attie Mahne (77).
Several items were reportedly stolen during the attack, including a firearm and an undisclosed amount of money.
The arrested suspect will appear before the Senwabarwana Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 03 December 2025. A search for the second suspect is ongoing.
Police investigations continue.
