By Chilis Suzan Zukwa: Notorious Alleged Crime Figure Vusimuzi Matlala to Testify Before Parliamentary Committee
Johannesburg – Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, a notorious alleged underworld figure, is scheduled to appear before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee investigating police corruption via a secure video link from Kgosi Mampuru C-Max Prison. Matlala, currently detained awaiting trial on charges including attempted murder, fraud, drug trafficking, and contract killings, has been linked to a sprawling organised-crime network operating in South Africa.
The committee hopes Matlala’s testimony will shed light on the alleged “Big Five” police syndicate and potential links between senior officers and criminal elements. Matlala’s alleged connections to corrupt police officials and organised crime figures have made him a key figure in the investigation.
The decision to hold the hearing via video link was made due to security concerns, ensuring Matlala’s testimony without compromising the safety of others. The committee aims to uncover the extent of police corruption and organised crime in South Africa through Matlala’s testimony
