CULPABLE HOMICIDE CASE OPENED AT MANKWENG POLICE FOLLOWING UNTIMELY DEATH OF A SIX YEAR-OLD CHILD
POLOKWANE: A culpable homicide case has been opened by the police in Mankweng under Capricorn District following an untimely death of a six (06) year-old female learner on Friday 24 October 2025 at about 07:00.
It is alleged that a 34 year-old male driver of a scholar transport bus was busy collecting learners at Ga-Molepo, Laastehoop village and intending to transport them to a local Primary School.
The driver reportedly arrived at a bus stop near a Spaza shop where learners were waiting to be picked up when they suddenly began pushing each other while preparing to board the bus.
While busy attempting to park the bus, the driver accidentally drove over a six year-old female victim. Following the incident, police and members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned at the scene but the child was subsequently certified dead upon their arrival.
The victim who resides at Laastehoop village was positively identified at the scene by the next of kin.
Police investigations are continuing.
