BREAKING NEWS: Former ANC member Tony Yengeni has Joined MK Party as 2nd Deputy President

Former ANC MP Tony Yengeni has joined the Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK) Party led by former President Jacob Zuma – specifically as the 2nd Deputy President. Yengeni has publicly praised Zuma previously, which drew rebuke from some ANC supporters considering MK Party’s role in recent electoral outcomes. Notably, Yengeni represented Zuma during his ANC disciplinary hearing.

A vocal critic of former President Cyril Ramaphosa, Yengeni was voted out of the ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) at the 2022 national conference. Earlier this year, ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula announced plans to charge Yengeni for alleged indiscipline following his social media criticisms of ANC leadership.

The MK Party, led by Jacob Zuma, has notable figures including Deputy President Dr John Hlophe – who serves as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly – alongside other prominent members like Nkosinathi Nhleko (National Chairperson) and Dr Bongani Mncwango (Secretary-General).
