LOAN SHARK TO MAKE FORMAL COURT APPEARANCE AFTER BEING FOUND IN POSSESSION OF SEVERAL IDENTITY DOCUMENTS AND BANK CARDS
POLOKWANE – A 37-year-old alleged loan shark is set to make a formal court appearance in the Saselamani Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 15 September 2025, following his arrest during an intelligence-driven operation in the Saselamani policing area, Vhembe District, on Thursday, 11 September 2025.
The suspect was found in possession of 22 identity documents and 42 bank cards, including SASSA pension cards, allegedly used to operate an illegal money-lending business in contravention of the National Credit Act34 of 2005.
He was arrested at about 06:00, detained at Saselamani Police Station, and later released on R3 000,00 bail, and warned to appear in court on the mention date.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, welcomed the arrest and commended the investigation team for clamping down on loan-sharking activities that exploit vulnerable community members.
