BREAKING NEWS : Breakthrough in Xolani Ndlovu-Ntombela Murder Case as 121 KZN Political Killing Dockets Returned
The KwaZulu-Natal Political Killings Task Team has made significant headway in the murder case of Xolani Ndlovu-Ntombela, charging two suspects in connection with his killing. The suspects, a 55-year-old local chief and a 23-year-old alleged hitman, are currently appearing in the Howick Magistrate’s Court.
Ndlovu-Ntombela, a whistleblower who exposed illegal land sales in the Emasosheni area, was gunned down at his home in Mpophomeni in November 2022. The task team’s investigation has revealed that his murder was linked to his efforts to uncover the illicit land deals.
The arrests are part of the task team’s renewed efforts to tackle politically motivated crimes in KwaZulu-Natal. The team has been investigating 121 case dockets, including Ndlovu-Ntombela’s murder, which were returned to them after being previously removed amid allegations of political interference.
National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has commended the task team for their swift action, stating, “The turnaround time and swift arrests following the return of the dockets is encouraging and a step in the right direction.
