POLICE LAUNCH MANHUNT FOR SUSPECT AFTER FATAL SHOOTING OF SHOP OWNER IN GA-KGOETE VILLAGE, MECKLENBURG POLICING AREA

POLOKWANE – The police in Mecklenburg, under the Sekhukhune District, have launched an intensive manhunt for unknown suspect following the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old local businessman at Ga-Kgoete village on the night of Thursday, 10 July 2025 at approximately 20:00.

Police responded to a report of a shooting at a local shop in the area and upon arrival, found the lifeless body of the foreign national, who was the owner of the shop. Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was alone inside the store and had already locked the burglar gate when an unknown suspect approached and shot him from outside before fleeing the scene on foot.

Emergency services were summoned, and the victim was certified dead on the scene. The motive behind the attack is not yet known, but police are not ruling out the possibility of robbery or business-related conflict.

The police have opened a case of murder and are appealing to community members who may have witnessed the incident or have information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrator to urgently come forward.
