PREMIER DR PHOPHI RAMATHUBA TO VISIT THE FAMILY OF FALLEN SANDF SOLDIER, RIFLEMAN DERRICK MALULEKE
Limpopo Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba will visit the family of the late Rifleman Derrick Maluleke on Sunday, 02 March 2025, at Nhlaneki Village in Greater Giyani Municipality.
The Premier will be joined by MEC for Coghsta Mr Basikopo Makamu, Mopani District Executive Mayor Cllr Pule Shayi and Greater Giyani Municipality Mayor Cllr Thandi Zitha.
Rifleman Maluleke was among the 14 South African National Defence Force (SANDF) soldiers who lost their lives while serving in a peacekeeping mission in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. He was the first of the fallen soldiers to be laid to rest on 16 February 2025.
“Since Rifleman Maluleke’s funeral had to be done earlier than others, we made an undertaking that we shall find time to visit the family. The passing of Rifleman Maluleke is a heartbreaking reminder of the sacrifices the army makes in keeping peace and stability in the region. We honour his bravery and dedication and as a province, we stand with his family in their time of grief,” said Premier Dr Ramathuba.
