ASSISTANCE NEEDED IN CONNECTION WITH A MURDER CASE OF JMPD OFFICER
It is alleged that on 24 February 2025 an off duty Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) traffic officer Mulalo Dathi was shot and killed at a restaurant, along the street corners of De Villiers and Blanket Street, in the Johannesburg Central Business District (CBD)
It is reported that approximately four men entered the restaurant and demanded cellphones from customers. It is alleged that Officer Dethi refused to cooperate, and the suspects fired shots at him.
He ran out of the shop but collapsed across the street and was declared dead on the scene by paramedics. The suspects fled without taking his phone.
