MALAMULELE POLICE ARREST A SECURITY GUARD FOR ASSAULT GBH AND POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARM

POLOKWANE: The Police in Malamulele have arrested a security guard, aged 48, after he allegedly assaulted his wife aged 46 with a hammer, on Sunday, 19 January 2025 at their residence in Mavandla Village at around 08:00.

Police reports indicate that the victim was assaulted by her husband following an argument in which the husband demanded his firearm from his wife. Allegedly the wife had hid the firearm in their house, as the couple was regularly having heated arguments.

On that day, he assaulted his wife with a hammer. The wife reported the incident to the Police and she also handed the said firearm to the Police. The case was opened and the suspect was then arrested for assault GBH and possession of unlicensed firearm.

The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has condemned the incident and applauded the victim for being so brave to report a domestic violence case which led to the seizure of unlicensed fiream.

The suspect will appear before the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 22 January 2025.
