POLICE APPREHEND SUSPECT FOR ALLEGED MURDER OF A 45-YEAR-OLD MAN AT MATLELEREKENG AND POSITIVELY LINKED HIM TWO OTHER MURDER CASES
POLOKWANE: A 31-year-old male suspect was apprehended at Siyabuswa, Mpumalanga Province in connection with the alleged murder of a 45-year-old man whose body was found inside his motor vehicle next to Matlelerekeng Tribal office on Thursday 17 August 2023 at about 13h30.
Preliminary Police’ investigations have indicated that the deceased was shot by two suspects who thereafter fled the scene in a charcoal Kia motor vehicle with a Gauteng Province registration.It was also established that the deceased’s cellphone was stolen.
The suspect was arrested on Friday 08 September, following a joint operation by Marble Hall Crime Intelligence, Sekhukhune Tracking Team, Matlelerekeng Vispol and Detectives, as well as the local Police. During the arrest, Police’ confiscated the vehicle that was allegedly used during the commission of the crime.
Further investigation was conducted and the suspect was positively linked with two murder cases that occurred at Dennilton Policing precinct in August 2023.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police’ in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the arrest and applauded the members for the swift arrest as well as the excellent collaboration.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Mdutjana Magistrate’s Court on Monday 11 September 2023, facing charges of murder and robbery.
