THREE SUSPECTS NABBED FOR CARJACKING IN MAHWELERNG TO APPEAR IN COURT
POLOKWANE : The three suspects aged between 23 and 33 arrested in Marble Hall after they committed carjacking in Mahwelereng on Monday 29 May 2023 at about 21:30 , will make their first court appearance before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court tomorrow 01 June 2023. They are facing charges of carjacking and possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle.
The trio aged between 23 and 33 were arrested in Marble Hall hours after the commission of the crime following a collaborative effort between Saps members from Mahwelereng and Groblersdal.
It is reported that the victim was driving his silver grey Renault Kwid motor vehicle from a tarven in Sekgakgapeng when he was stopped by three unknown suspects , who requested a lift to another local tavern. Two suspects entered the tavern and one remained with the victim in the car, thereafter the victim went out to relieve himself leaving the key on the ignition. When he returned, one of the suspects took the car keys and ordered the victim to move from driver’s seat and drove off. Along the way, the suspects forced the victim out and fled with his motor vehicle.
Police were alerted and swiftly responded. The suspects were subsequently arrested
in Marble Hall while driving the hijacked motor vehicle.
The Provincial Commissioner of South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the team for their dedication and hard work in bringing the perpetrators of carjacking to book. She further urged the community to be vigilant at all times.
