LAUNCH OF EASTER ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGN IN LIMPOPO
POLOKWANE: With the Easter holidays just a few days away, the South African Police Service (SAPS) will be heightening it’s crime-fighting efforts with the launch of ‘Operation Paseka’. This safety campaign has a double focus of clamping down on opportunistic crime and road safety during this period.
With the expected influx of thousands to annual religious pilgrimages across the province as well as visitors to various tourist attractions in the province and people visiting friends and relatives, traffic is expected at a maximum on all national routes and roads including the fatalities during this time due to a range of factors. These include reckless and negligent driving, speeding, fatigue, unroadworthy vehicles and driving under the influence of alcohol and other intoxicants. Members of the South African Police Service will be out in full force, working together with various stakeholders such as the Department of Transport and Community Safety to ensure a safe and secure Easter period for all.
The MEC for Transport and Community Safety in Limpopo Mme Florence Rhadzilani alongside Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe will officially launch the 2023 Easter Road Safety Campaign.
The event will take place as follows:
Date: Wednesday 05 April 2023
Time: 06:00 to 09:00
Venue: Moria along R71; Mankweng in Capricorn District
