ALARM BELLS ON LACK OF WATER AT MANGKAILE CLINIC IN GAMOLEPO.

EFF STATEMENT ON THE LACK OF WATER AT MANGKAILE CLINIC IN GAMOLEPO.
Wednesday, 02 November 2022.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Limpopo is calling on the Limpopo
Department of Health to supply water to Mankgaile Clinic at Ga-Molepo village, outside
Polokwane.
The EFF notes with dismay that for the past four weeks the clinic didn’t have running
water, while the department was aware but no action was taken to address the
situation.
In line with health services requirements and stated procedures as per the health
standards ,water supply is a crucial and a basic necessity to both employees and
patients as well as the functioning of health facilities.
Safety is also not guaranteed as there are no lights, the high mast lighting has been
dysfunctional for quite some time, this invites criminal activities in and around the
clinic. The department’s negligence and outright carelessness bothers the community
in that the clinic is not conducive and not maintained, worse there is no water.
The EFF is concerned about the Limpopo public health which has collapsed and we
believe that it needs competent and decisive political leadership and management to
resuscitate it, before the hopeless masses of our people die in public health facilities.
Everyday, pregnant women give birth outside the gates of many clinics and they are
being blamed for not seeking help on time, because the department is covering up
malfeasance and failing to take responsibility and implement corrective measures.
Access to the clinic is another challenge as the road is bumpy and not user friendly for
residents and employees of Mankgaile Clinic.
The EFF has marched to the clinic and handed over a memorandum of demands on
Monday, 31 October 2022 in connection with service delivery challenges and we
expect corrective measures to be implemented immediately.
We also donated water to the clinic through water tankers after realising that the
department has no regard for the needs of the people.
The EFF is committed to protecting human rights, human dignity and preserving life,
therefore we urge the department to act with speed in resolving the challenges at
hand.
