POLICE OPEN INQUEST FOLLOWING DROWNING INCIDENT AT MASHOBWE VILLAGE
POLOKWANE: Police in Malamulele have opened an inquest docket following the discovery of a lifeless body of a 34-year-old man in the Shingwedzi River at Mashobwe Village on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.
According to reports, police received a complaint of a drowning incident and proceeded to the scene, where they were directed to a body of an adult male found floating in the river. The deceased was positively identified as Rito Mabunda (34), a resident of Magona Village.
Preliminary information indicates that the deceased had allegedly left his home on the previous day at around 10:00 to go fishing at the Shingwedzi River and did not return home. His body was discovered the following morning at about 08:00.
Police opened the case of inquest.
