28-YEAR-OLD MAN WILL APPEAR BEFORE DZANANI MAGISTRATE’S COURT, POSSESSION OF SUSPECTED STOLEN PROPERTY (STOCKTHEFT)

POLOKWANE: The Police in Mphephu outside Thohoyandou have arrested a man in possession of suspected stolen property (stocktheft) in Mphephu policing precinct , on Thursday 03 July 2025.

Reports suggest that livestock owner noticed that his goats went missing in March 2025. The matter was reported to the police. Several searches were conducted without any success. Again, in June this year, four goats reportedly also went missing. The total value of stolen goats is amount to R12500.00. Several follow-ups and searches were conducted without success .The livestock owner ultimately received a tip-off information about a male suspect in possession of suspected stolen property ( carcuses )at his home. The police were summoned to the scene and on their arrivals, they found members of the community with the alleged suspect and had visible injuries. The suspect was further taken to SAPS Mphephu for further interrogation and further investigation.

In another separate incident, the police launched a manhunt for suspect(s) who stole a pig in its pigsty at Mashau Guvhungwa in Levubu at Vhembe District on , Thursday 03 July 2025.

It is alleged that on Thursday, 03 July 2025 at approximately 07h00 the livestock owner found his pig missing at Mashao pigsty. Furher observation around the pigsty, there were some blood stains. The value of his pig is approximately R3000.00

Police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist in arresting the suspects to contact investigating: Officer Warrant Officer Lufuno Tshiololi at 082 469 3214 or the nearest Police.

The alleged suspect, a 28-year-old man, will appear before Dzanani Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of being in possession of suspected stolen property (stocktheft).

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe welcomed the apprehension of the suspect but warned members of the community against taking the law into their own hands.
