MODJADJISKLOOF SAPS INVESTIGATE AN INQUEST CASE DOCKET, FOLLOWING A RECOVERY OF HUMAN BODY AFTER REPORTED MISSING

POLOKWANE The Police in Modjadjiskloof outside Tzaneen are investigating an inquest case docket, following the discovery of a human body, alleged to be a 51 year old male victim from Maphalle village who was reported missing on Thursday, 22 January 2026 by his 38 year old wife.

According to the information received, on Wednesday, 21 January 2026, at around 14:40, the victim left home with two men. Since then, he never came home. The preliminary report suggests that the victim, together with his friends, went out to hunt at a local farm. It is alleged that they were confronted by men who were armed and they ran in different directions, it was believed that they were all out of the farm. On Thursday, 22 January 2026, the members of the community were alerted, and the search operation started with no success.

On Friday, 23 January 2026, members of the community were searching again until they found the victim had already passed away. His body was partially decomposed.

The suspects are unknown at this stage, but investigations are ongoing to apprehend all those involved.
