NPA Says Shebeshxt Shots Fans for Cheering Him
The National Prosecuting Authority says the controversial Lekompo rapper Shebeshxt, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, has shot the fans leaving one wounded, for cheering on him. Chauke appeared before the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court on charges of attempted murder, malicious damage to property, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Shebe is faceing charges of attempted murder, malicious damage to property and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
According to National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson in Limpopo, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, the artist responded to the fans by saying “Kgane aletlale ka nna?” before firing a shot at them.
The Lekompo artist, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, appeared in court on Thursday after he was arrested during a police operation yesterday.
It’s alleged that the complainant and a friend were driving along Witklip Street in Ladanna, Polokwane, when they noticed the artist and greeted him out of excitement.
The bullet reportedly struck the complainant in the jaw and shattered the car window.
Shebeshxt faces charges of attempted murder, malicious damage to property, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The case has been postponed to 21 November for profiling. He remains in custody.
Among some of the people who were in court to support him were his parents, his heavily pregnant girlfriend, his producer Nakedi “Naqua” Mawasha as well as lekompo DJ and producer Hitboss
Chauke’s appearance in court follows an altercation that allegedly happened on October 19 outside Polokwane.
According to the state, Chauke tried to kill Petrus Ralefatane at Witklip Street in Ladanna, just outside Polokwane.
He is also accused of intentionally breaking the windows of a Nissan Sentra owned by Tebelelo Mafagane. Chauke was also found in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Spokesperson for the national prosecuting authority in Limpopo Mashudu Malabi said allegations are that the two victims were driving along Witklip Street in Ladanna, Polokwane, when they saw Chauke.
This is not the first time the musician has faced criminal charges. In 2022, he was charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a man in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo. That trial is set to begin from 17 to 19 February 2026 in the Lebowakgomo Regional Court.
He also faces two counts of discharging a firearm after allegedly firing shots in the air at his family home in Limpopo.
