Equality Court rules against Kenny Kunene over ‘cockroach’ slur directed at Julius Malema
The Equality Court has ruled on appeal that suspended Patriotic Alliance deputy president Kenny Kunene’s use of the term “cockroach” to describe EFF leader Julius Malema constitutes hate speech and is in violation of the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act (PEPUDA).
In its judgment, the court interdicted Kunene from referring to Malema as a “cockroach” in future and ordered him to issue a public apology to the EFF leader.
