PONGOLA TRUCK DRIVER CONVICTED ON 20 COUNTS OF MURDER
Today the KwaZulu-Natal High Court, sitting in Pongola, convicted truck driver, Sibusiso Siyaya on 20 counts of murder as well as reckless and negligent driving and failure to perform duties of a driver after an accident.
The conviction relates to an accident that occurred in September 2022 where the truck that Siyaya was driving ploughed into a bakkie transporting school children, killing all the occupants of the bakkie.
The matter was remanded to tomorrow, 15 May 2024, for sentence proceedings.
