BORDER POLICE APPREHEND FORTY TWO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS THROUGH A DISRUPTIVE OPERATION VALA UMGODI AND CONFISCATE THOUSANDS OF RANDS WORTH OF ILLICIT CIGARETTES

POLOKWANE: The Border Police Team at Beitbridge Port of Entry outside Musina in Vhembe District apprehended forty-two foreign nationals within the borderline on Sunday 28, April 2024 for contravention of immigration Act.

The individuals were processed by the Immigration Officers from the Department of Home Affairs for a direct deportation back to their countries of origin. 

In addition, the team had a separate incident on Sunday 28, April during their Operation confiscated a home made wooden step ladder at Beitbridge that is believed to be used to cross Limpopo River between Zimbabwe and South Africa.

The Multidisciplinary Team has on Sunday 28 April, arrested nine suspects in separate locations at Mokopane in Waterberg District for dealing in illicit cigarettes ultimately thousands of rands worth of illicit cigarettes were seized. 

In a separate incident, a 31-year-old male suspect was arrested on Sunday 28 April for rape, assault on a police officer, and resisting arrest at Thohoyandou in Vhembe District .

The suspects are expected to appear before various Magistrate’s Courts in due course.
