FOREIGN NATIONAL BOGUS DENTIST WAS CONVICTED AND SENTENCED
Limpopo- Foreign national bogus dentist, Taural Chihoho (33) was convicted and sentenced for contravening the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the Immigration Act by the Mankweng Regional Court on 03 April 2024.
Chihoho was arrested at Bok street in Polokwane on 06 June 2023 during operation led by the Polokwane based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation assisted by HPCSA and South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB).
During operation the team found Chihoho inside the surgery performing dentist duties without documentations.
Preliminary investigations revealed that his passport and permit were expired on 2021. He was immediately put under arrest.
Chihoho was denied with bail until he was convicted and sentenced as follows:
-Count One : Contravention of section 17(1) of HPCSA, he was sentenced five thousand rand (R5000-00) fine or 12 months imprisonment, and a further 12 months imprisonment wholly suspended for five (5) year on condition that the accused he is not committing similar offence.
Count Two(2) : Contravening Immigrant Act, one thousand rand (R1000-00) fine or six (6) months imprisonment.
The Acting Provincial Head of the Hawks in Limpopo Province Brigadier Alexander welcomed the sentence and applauded the wonderful job done by the team.
