On Friday evening, 26 April, MK spokesman Nhlamulo Ndhlela announced the party's decision to expel "rogue elements" to safeguard its integrity. Khumalo, along with four other members, was expelled. "During a meeting of the National Leadership Core, considering the attempts by external forces to destabilize the MK party, which aims to advance a people's revolution, we decided to expel the following comrades: Jabulani Khumalo, whom President (Jacob) Zuma had asked to register the party on his behalf, Ray Khumalo, Bheki Manzini, Lebo Moepeng, and Rochelle Davidson, also known as Gogo Mahlalentabeni," Ndhlela explained. He emphasised that the national leadership would always act in the best interest of all South Africans seeking change. Former president Jacob Zuma, addressing MK members in the Joburg High Court on 11 April, warned those with ambitions for power within the party.
