MANHUNT UNDERWAY FOR SUSPECT AFTER 59-YEAR-OLD MAN SHOT AND KILLED IN LEBOWAKGOMO

POLOKWANE: The South African Police Service (SAPS) Detectives in Lebowakgomo activated a manhunt for an unknown suspect who allegedly shot and killed a 59-year-old man on Friday night, 08 March 2024 at about 19:00 in Simelane village in Lebowakgomo.

According to reports, the victim was with his wife, when he alighted from their vehicle, he was approached by an unknown suspect who came driving in a white Isuzu.

The suspect produced a firearm and pointed at the victim while insulting him. The victim tried to run away, but the gunman chased him and shot him multiple times before he fled the scene.

Upon receiving reports of the shooting, the police swiftly responded, with Emergency Medical Services personnel also dispatched to the scene. Tragically, the victim succumbed to the injuries, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body. The identity of the deceased will be disclosed in due course.

A murder case has been opened, prompting an immediate activation of a manhunt to locate and apprehend the suspect responsible for this senseless act.

In light of this appalling incident, the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has strongly condemned the incident and instructed the police to intensify efforts to apprehend the suspect swiftly.
