TAXI BOSS WHO WAS GUNNED DOWN IN MOLETLANE

POLOKWANE: Limpopo police have intensified investigations to trace and arrest armed suspects after a 56-year-old taxi boss was gunned down in Ga-Mogotlane Village in Moletlane on Saturday night, 24 February 2024 at about 19h30

According to the information, the victim was driving towards the local Police Station when unknown suspects driving a white taxi and white sedan motor vehicle opened fire on his vehicle. The suspects then fled the scene. Police responded to the scene together with the emergency medical services. The victim’s body was found inside his vehicle. During initial investigations, Police recovered several spent catridges for rifles and pistols at the scene.

All the relevant role players attended the scene including the local Detectives and SAPS Taxi Violence Task Team.At this stage, the motive for the shooting is unknown, however, It may be linked to the ongoing conflict within the taxi industry.

Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the senseless killing. The Task Team established to hunt down the perpetrators is already hard on the ground, and we hope to have a breakthrough soon.

” We urge the public to come forward with information that can assist in the apprehension of the suspects ,” urged Lieutenant General Hadebe.
