A 30 YEAR-OLD MALE SUSPECT APPREHENDED IN CONNECTION WITH THE MURDER OF A 33 YEAR-OLD WOMAN IN NAMAKGALE PRECINCT REMANDED IN POLICE CUSTODY

POLOKWANE: A 30 year-old male suspect apprehended in connection with the murder of a 33 year-old woman in Namakgale precinct have briefly appeared before the Tzaneen Magistrate court on Friday 26 January 2024.

George Pilusa was remanded in police custody and his case was postponed to next week Tuesday 30 January 2024 for bail application and further police investigations. The suspect is facing multiple charges that include murder, carjacking, kidnapping and common robbery.

It is reported that on Saturday 20 January 2024, the victim left her parental residence in Namakgale location while driving a white Renault Triber motor vehicle.

On Monday 22 January 2024, the victim did not return home as she was expected to transport school children.

The matter was then reported at Namakgale SAPS and a missing person case was opened to locate the victim.

Police commenced with the investigations in collaboration with a Tracker Company that led to the recovery of the victim’s motor vehicle in Mashavela village under Giyani policing area.

The motor vehicle was found parked at a house belonging to the girlfriend of the suspect.

The girlfriend informed the police that the suspect told her that he was going to the bank and would use public transport. A 30 year-old male never returned to fetch the motor vehicle until it was recovered and seized by the Police.

On Tuesday 23 January 2024, police received a complaint about a lifeless body of woman that was found near a bridge in Tzaneen and rushed to the vicinity.

The body was found in an advanced state of decomposition and tied up with wires on both hands and covered with a plastic bag on the head. The body was positively identified by the next of kin at the scene as Mmabore Segala who was reported missing at Namakgale.

An immediate manhunt for the suspect was launched at Mandela village where he was residing but police could not find him. The family of the suspect was located.

The suspect was traced and arrested at his hiding in the bushes next to Mashishimale village.

Police investigations are continuing.
