MOPANI POLICE DISTRICT COMMISSIONER EMBARKS ON SAFER FESTIVE SEASON CRIME AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
POLOKWANE:The District Commissioner of Mopani, Major General Willy Mashava led from the front when they embarked on a Safer Festive Season Crime Awareness Campaign on Friday 22 December 2023 in Giyani.
The District Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mopani Mojar General Willy Mashava was joined by the Mopani Deputy District Commissioner and Women’s Network Champion, Brigadier Mary Mashila and SAPS Giyani Station Commander, Brigadier Serakwana Khutso at Masingita Shopping Mall.
The SAPS management had SAPS newly recruited Constables and members of the Community Police Forum as well as the Provincial Traffic Officers forming part of the event .
The District Commissioner, Major General Mashava engaged the community members and proudly assured the community that with more boots on the ground, a safe and secure festive season is imminent.
The community members gathered at the Shopping Mall were kept entertained with melodious music by the SAPS Limpopo Jazz Band and our own Dj, Sergeant Latishe Matlanyane who was also playing Amapiono music interchanging the stage with the Band.
Government on wheels services such as certification of copies and signing of affidavit amongst others were brought near to the community from a mobile Traditional Police Service Truck .
Informative pamphlets on crime prevention hints were distributed to the public.
As part of the activities of the day, the District Commissioner and his entourage , had a walked about in the Mall to ensure that patrons are kept safe as they engage in shopping.
Roadblock was conducted by members of SAPS in conjunction with the Provincial Traffic Officers, joined by other Law Enforcement Agencies including the Department of Health along R81 road at the entrance to Giyani town.
