POLOKWANE: The Provincial Commissioner warns community members against lawless behavior within communities.

This is after an incident that occurred at the Peter Nchabeleng section in Mmotong wa Perekisi under the Seshego policing precinct, wherein an angry mob attacked a 37-year-old man with variable objects.

The police were alerted about the incident and quickly rushed to the scene. On arrival, with backup from the members of Public Order Policing, they managed to rescue him.

Preliminary investigations found that community members are accusing the male victim of the murder of his girlfriend, aged 31. The woman’s lifeless body was found at the boyfriend’s house after being reported missing on Saturday, 04 November 2023.

Following investigations, a suspect, aged 37, was arrested in connection with the murder of his girlfriend. He was arrested under police guard as he was critically injured during a mob attack.
Allegedly, the suspect killed her and hid her lifeless body in his bedroom. On 04 November 2023, her family reported her missing.

The woman’s body was recovered on Monday, 06 November 2023. She was identified as Rose Moabelo (31). Police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, calls upon community members to resist the temptation of taking law into their own hands. “If there is any crime committed, the police should be alerted so that investigations can commence,” said Lieutenant General, Thembi Hadebe. She added that gender-based violence is still a challenge, and we need to support each other by reporting these incidents to the police.

The arrested suspects will soon appear before Seshego Magistrate’s Court, facing a charge of murder. The hunt for a mob attack suspects is ongoing.
