LIMPOPO – Sibusiso Peter Magagula (32) was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for robbery by the Lenyenye Regional Court on 3 November 2023.

On 3 June 2022, the G4S security guard collected money at Pookena filling station in Maake policing area.

While on the way to the armoured vehicle, the security guard was accosted by two armed men who robbed him a bag full of money and also took his service pistol.

The suspects reportedly used a red Nissan sedan as their getaway vehicle.

The case was opened and transferred to the Phalaborwa based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation for further probe.

Through the remarkable investigation skills of the investigators, Magagula was successfully traced and arrested in Tzaneen area on the very same day the robbery was committed.

Magagula was never granted bail until he was convicted and sentenced. The search for the other suspect is still ongoing.

The Provincial Head of the Hawks in Limpopo Province, Major General Gopz Govender has welcomed the sentence. ” I would like to appreciate the meritorious efforts by the investigation and prosecution teams. This sentence is a clear warning to the criminals that the state will not be lenient to them, instead they will be removed from the society and locked in prison for a very long time”, Major General Govender said.
