LIMPOPO HOSPITALS JOINS MILLIONS OF NURSES ACROSS THR GLOBE TO CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY

Health MEC Dr. Phophi Ramathuba will lead the international nurses’ day celebration activities under the theme: ” Our Nurses, Our Future.” The MEC will join the nurses at Seshego Hospital in the Capricorn District.

International Nurses Day is celebrated annually to honor and appreciate the contributions of nurses worldwide. The day was first observed in 1965 and falls on the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, who is considered the founder of modern nursing. This day serves as a reminder of the vital role nurses play in providing quality healthcare to individuals and communities.

“We celebrate this year’s international nurses’ day just after we witnessed our own Florance Nighteengale at Jane Furse Hospital, wherein two women delivered triplets and twins four hours apart. It is still in this province where last year Tshililo Mphaphuli, a professional nurse in a village, Masisi clinic delivered quadruplets. We also use this day to celebrate the efforts of our nurses, raise awareness about their challenges, and encourage communities to support and recognize their efforts. We would like to say a big thank you to each and every nurse for their dedication, commitment, and compassion and for providing outstanding care to their patients on a daily basis,” said MEC Ramathuba.

The Nurses Day celebration is scheduled as follows:

Date: Friday, 12 May 2023
Venue: Seshego Hospital (Polokwane Municipality-Capricon District)
Time: 14h00
