TWO BOYS DROWN IN VHEMBE DISTRICT

POLOKWANE: The Acting Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Major General Jan Scheepers has strongly urged parents and guardians to take care of their children following the drowning of two boys aged 11 and 12 on Sunday 23 April 2023 in Nzhelele River at Tshituni tsha fhasi village under Mphephu policing area.

According to the information available at this stage, it is alleged that the two boys Vhonani Chaele (11) and Pfariso Ramudidibi(12) were visiting a relative when they sneaked out at about 16:00 and went to swim in a local river and subsequently drowned.

According to further information, members of the Community managed to retrieve the body of one of the boys and thereafter sought assistance from the police whereby the SAPS Search and Rescue Divers managed to retrieve the second body.

Police have opened a case of Inquest. Investigations are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

” Parents and gurdians are cautioned to ensure that their children do not take part in swimming activities unsupervised and to be extremely careful to ensure they continuesly don’t loose sight of their children at to avoid such heartbreaking incidents,” said Major General Scheepers.

Police investigation continues.
